Ajay Majumdar

Ajay Majumdar is a contemporary painter working primarily in oils and acrylics, creating works that bridge traditional Indian techniques with modern sensibilities.

About the Artist

Majumdar's work shows a deep understanding of traditional Indian painting methods, yet his approach feels entirely contemporary. His canvases often explore the tension between heritage and modernity, employing rich colour palettes that recall classical Indian miniature traditions while addressing present-day themes. The artist demonstrates particular skill in layering techniques, building depth through successive applications of paint that create both textural interest and luminous surfaces.
