Subrata Gangopadhyay

Subrata Gangopadhyay (b. 1959, Kolkata) is one of India’s leading contemporary painters, celebrated for his mastery in modern realism and expressive portraiture. A first-class graduate from the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, his work blends technical precision with emotional depth, honed during his early years as Senior Artist at the Ananda Bazar Group.

Known for his vibrant use of color, dynamic brushwork, and lyrical portrayal of movement, Subrata’s acclaimed Rhythmic Harmony series captures the energy of Indian dance with grace and vitality. Equally adept in oils and acrylics, his canvases evoke both intensity and nostalgia, often shifting between fluid realism and textured expressionism.
