Shaibal Ghosh
Shaibal Ghosh was a gifted Indian watercolour artist remembered for elevating the medium to the expressive depth of oil painting. A student of the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, Ghosh created evocative monochrome sketches and romantic compositions exploring themes of life, death, solitude, and emotion. His early works displayed a maturity beyond his years, while his later transparent watercolours were known for their dense, fragmented imagery—like reflections in shattered glass. Ghosh passed away prematurely in 2000 at the age of 49, leaving behind a legacy marked by technical skill and poetic introspection.
