Know about the artwork

A small, square abstraction in acrylic and ink by Partha Pratim Deb. At six inches each way it works almost like a fragment or a study — the kind of piece meant to be hung close and looked at often rather than read across a room.

Deb, born in 1943 in Sylhet, trained at Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan and at MS University, Baroda. He is known for an experimental practice that folds folk traditions and pop-art wit into painting, sculpture and found-object assemblage, and taught at Rabindra Bharati University for over three decades.

Original acrylic and ink · 6 × 6 inches · 2010 · one of one, with certificate of authenticity.
