Suhas Roy
Suhas Roy (1936‚–2016) was a prominent Indian painter known for his poetic and romantic portrayals of the feminine form, especially his iconic Radha series. A graduate of the Indian College of Arts and Draughtsmanship in Kolkata, he further studied in Paris at Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Roy was deeply influenced by European techniques but remained rooted in Indian aesthetics. He taught at Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan, and served as its head of the painting department. His works, often created in mixed media, charcoal, and tempera, evoke themes of beauty, longing, and spiritual love.
